Yesterday we welcomed over 40 schools and groups who have taken part in our Learning Programme to officially open the little Snowman trail.
500 pupils and teachers gathered outside the giant Twelve Drummers Drumming sculpture to start the day in the most festive way possible – carol singing! Afterwards they had a brilliant time taking part in activities around MediaCityUK, including story-telling at Social 7 and festive crafts in the Open Centre and Lowry Outlet. They also took themselves on self-guided tours around the large Snowman trail and paid a visit to the other schools’ little Snowmen.
We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you!’ to all the volunteers and the team that helped to make the day happen, and to Salford City Council for supporting the Learning Programme and inviting over Councillor John Walsh to welcome pupils.
The 47 little Snowmen are on display in the Lowry Theatre, The Open Centre and The Lowry outlet until Sunday 13 January, when they will return to the schools and groups that created them as a lasting legacy of the project.
