Laura-Kate Chapman’s design is based on Seven Swans a-Swimming. It features 21 swans (a multiple of seven) in a repeating, stylised pattern. She has concentrated on the form and shape of a swan’s body, particularly its iconic long neck and impressive wing span. The Snowman himself has been transformed into a swan – he has an orange nose like a swan’s beak and stands in a pool of icy blue water.
Liverpool based Laura-Kate has been running her own freelance illustration business, Laura-Kate Draws, since 2009. She works on a variety of commissioned projects, has developed a range of illustrated gifts, and hosts illustration and screen print workshops across the North West. Her work is predominantly hand drawn and painted, often involving intricate detail and lots of animals.
