Kim Hubball’s design is based on the verse Four Calling Birds from the song The Twelve Days of Christmas. She wanted to focus on the birds themselves in her design, and has painted them as large as possible to wrap around the Snowman’s body. The design is a contemporary take on Scandinavian folk art illustration and uses bold colours and geometric patterns.
Kim is a graphic designer and printmaker based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Her work is mostly abstract, and is influenced heavily by her background in graphic design. She loves to explore shape, colour and pattern and embraces simplicity in her work. Kim’s main focus at the moment is to create works that cross the boundaries between art and graphic design. She designed the giant Bee sculpture My Heart Belongs in this Place for Wild in Art’s recent Bee in the City trail.
